About Health
Serrano
M.D.
Our mission is to proactively coach and support our patients to discover a healthy life by teaching them their health is a priority. We partner with our patients to deliver the highest quality of care possible by eliminating the hassle of dealing with insurance companies. That’s why we chose the Direct Primary Care (DPC) model for our Gainesville, Florida, clinic. DPC gives physicians the freedom to re-establish the traditional healthcare principles between you and your doctor. Through that relationship, we can emphasize what's most important, you, the patient.
About Dr.
Serrano
Dr. Karymar del Valle Serrano is the Chief Executive Officer and Medical Director of Health by Serrano, M.D. She is a Primary Care Physician and Minor Surgeon graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, Mexico in 2006. She continued her training at the University Hospital, Medical Center and Manatí Medical Center where she was awarded the Best Academic Performance Recognition. She moved to Gainesville, Florida in 2012 where she worked in under-served areas of rural communities, Forensic Medicine and Veterans Hospital.
Dr. Serrano’s vision to start her own Direct Primary Care practice in 2023 was driven by her desire to spend more time with her patients and to fulfill her ministry of serving others with love and dedication. She embraces the Hippocratic oath that states: “May I always act as to preserve the finest traditions of my calling and may I long experience the joy of healing those who seek my help.”
Dr. Serrano is married to Dr. Pedro J. De León Reyes and is the mother of two beautiful children. They hold strong Christian values and live by the gospel. She finds strength to pursue her calling remembering the Scriptures; “Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid or discouraged, because the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
As a Christian physician, Dr. Serrano's purpose is to practice medicine by remembering the scripture:
In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: "It is more blessed to give than to receive.
Acts 20:35
About Dr. De León
Dr. Pedro J. De León Reyes is the Chief Financial Officer of Health by Serrano, M.D. and a Primary Care and Emergency Medicine physician, who pursued his medical education in Guadalajara, Mexico, in 2006 to then continue his training at Manatí Medical Center in Puerto Rico. He was appointed the recognition of Best Intern Of The Year during his training to then join the medical staff as an Hospitalist and Emergency Room physician of the renamed Doctors Center Hospital in Puerto Rico. Relocating to the United States in 2012, he continued his commitment to healthcare, serving communities with diligence and empathy.
Beyond medicine, Dr. De León Reyes cherishes his roles as a devoted husband to his wife, Dr. Karymar del Valle Serrano, and a loving father to their two beautiful children. His passions extend to soccer and literature, finding joy in the pages of a book and the thrill of the game. Guided by his Christian faith and love for God, he remains steadfast in his dedication to healing and serving others, whether in rural communities or attending to the veterans of the nation.
His favorite Bible verse, 1 Peter 1:7, “so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ” reminds him of the importance of faith and perseverance in life's trials.
